Internet Filtering

The NeoGuardian Internet Filter allows parents to 'block' access to any website which they feel is unacceptable for their child to view.

NeoGuardian provides a black list of 2.6 million websites which can be downloaded directly to your software including known illegal, offensive, unclassified and adult-only web sites.

The black list is sectioned into categories and allows you the ability to deselect any categories or websites if you wish to make them accessible to your child, further to this, you are more than welcome to add to the list of websites if there are any additional websites you wish to filter.

The software has two main modes of operation dependent on how the parent wishes to configure their software:

Passive mode: Provides full access to all websites but records when any black listed sites are accessed and can be configured to send email or SMS alerts when they have been visited. This setting is primarily set up to not alert the user they are being monitored and to see what sites they are visiting and communicate with them effectively if any sites are visited that they should not be.

Active mode: This mode blocks access to black listed sites as well as any other sites listed within the software’s settings. When these sites are accessed it will return one of two messages depending on how the user has configured the settings; either a standard ‘404 error’ will be displayed indicating the page they are looking for could not be found (this is good to prevent them from viewing pages they should not be visiting but do not wish to alert them that they are being monitored) or alternatively, a ‘NeoGuardian Blocked’ page can be displayed which alerts the user that they have accessed a page which is black listed by the software. In active mode all pages attempted to be visited will still be logged and recorded with alerts being sent via email or SMS as relevant to user’s settings.
